Sodium Chlorite + Activator Kit

The Chlorine dioxide kit is made of 2 products, which using them correctly together will allow you to make your own CDS (chlorine dioxide).

• Component 1: Concentrated solution of Sodium chlorite at 25%
• Component 2: Activator HCL (hydrochloric acid) 4%.

Both substances have been packaged in opaque bottles that guarantee their conservation. Made of HDPE plastic, optimal for packaging this type of product.

To make water drinkable with the Dioxnatur Kit you will need:

• Sodium Chlorite Water Purifier Kit 25% and Activator 140ml, 250 or 60ml from Dioxnatur
• Dry glass container or glass

How to use:

*The dosage must be 1:1 That is, for each drop of Sodium Chlorite we will use one drop of HCL Activator (Hydrochloric Acid).

Step 1

In the glass container, pour 2 drops of sodium chlorite and 2 of the Activator for each liter of water to be disinfected.

Step 2

After a few seconds, when the mixture turns yellow, add a little water to the glass (>150 ml). This will stabilize the activation.

Step 3

Immediately afterwards, dilute the mixture in the water to be disinfected and wait ½ hour.

OPTIONAL

We may have to repeat the operation until the chlorine level in the water is between 0.5 and 1.5 ppm. The total dosage will depend on the quality of the water to be disinfected. Water should not be consumed until its chlorine level is below 1.5 ppm.

*To measure the level of chlorine in water you can use chlorine strips. Not to be confused with chlorine dioxide strips, the latter are used in the CDS preparation process to check that it is at 3000PPM. They are different processes.

Instructions to prepare Chlorine Dioxide:

We need the following ingredients:

• 250ml of filtered or distilled water
• 5ml of 25% sodium chlorite solution
• 5ml of hydrochloric acid (HCl) at 4

Prepare a 0.5L glass jar with an airtight glass lid. Avoid metal lids, as they can rust during the process.

Fill the glass jar with cold water to just below the rim of a small glass "shot" glass placed inside the jar.

The glass will be used to mix the ingredients.

Mix 5 ml of sodium chlorite solution with 5 ml of 4% hydrochloric acid in another clean, dry glass.

Place the small glass with the activated mixture of sodium chlorite and hydrochloric acid inside the jar without spilling the mixture into the water.

Close the glass jar tightly with the lid, making sure it is as sealed as possible. The less air in the jar, the better.

Store the jar in a dark place at room temperature for 12 hours.

After 12 hours, you can cool the jar in the refrigerator.

Take the jar outside (in a well-ventilated area) and open the lid.

Replace the beaker containing 5 ml of sodium chlorite and 5 ml of 4% hydrochloric acid with a new one.

Close the jar tightly again and store in a dark place for another 12 hours.

When the two liquids in the bottle have the same color (a strong yellow, similar to sunflower oil), the process is complete.

Carefully remove the glass from the cooled jar without spilling it.

Store the jar with the concentrated CDS in the refrigerator or, preferably, in an amber glass pharmaceutical bottle.

The resulting CDS concentration should be about 3000 ppm (0.3%).You can check it using La Motte chlorine dioxide test strips. Dilute the CDS in a ratio of 1:9 with distilled water and check it with the strips. A reading of 300 indicates the desired concentration.

How is the Sodium Chlorite Kit stored?

Do not expose to sunlight.Store in a cool, dry and dark placeto ensure that the product remains in its best quality and durability conditions. If the room temperature is higher than 22-24ºC, it is recommended to store it in the refrigerator.

How long does the Sodium Chlorite Kit last?

Components can last5 to 7 yearsdepending on storage conditions.

If the solution is activated (that is, the mixture is made) it should be kept refrigerated (approximately 11º) and we recommend consuming it within the first 6 months.
