Lugol

Lugol's iodine solution is composed of: 5% iodine, 10% potassium iodide, 85% double-distilled water Ph. Eur., USP. The same original formula developed by Dr. Jean Guillaume Auguste Lugol of one part elemental iodine, two parts potassium iodide and water.

It is a liquid with a dark reddish brown appearance and has a very characteristic smell and taste.
